Erasmus Staff Mobility: Visit from Estonia

22.06.2011

Bern University of Applied Sciences has received a visitor from Estonia as apart of the Erasmus Staff Mobility programme: John Rodriquez, Educational Technologist  at Tallinn University of Applied Sciences met with the staff responsible for e-learning at the BUAS in order to exchange experiences with them.

The Bern University of Applied Sciences (BUAS) cultivates this exchange with international partner universities on various levels. This includes the area of Staff Mobility, which supports employees of the BUAS and its partner universities in the appreciation of the cross-border dimension of their work, in international networking and in their purposeful personal development. John Rodriquez, Educational Technologist at Tallinn University of Applied Sciences (Tallinna Tehnikakõrgkool), seized the opportunity and visited BUAS at the end of March as part of the Erasmus Staff Mobility programme.

Focus on e-learning
John Rodriquez’ staff exchange visit served as both further training and an exchange of experiences on the subject of e-learning. The main themes were the development of e-learning programmes and the use of e-learning material in class. As a trainer at the Tallinn University of Applied Sciences, Rodriquez was particularly interested in how the BUAS organises and carries out its training events on the subject of e-learning.

Valuable exchange of experience
John Rodriquez was accompanied by the team of the Office for University Didactics & E-Learning and of the International Relations Office of the BUAS. During his stay Rodriquez had the opportunity to exchange experiences with the staff responsible for e-learning in various departments and also to familiarise himself with the Moodle learning platform. His visit also led to a meeting with representatives of the Swiss Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training in Zollikofen. The programme was rounded off by an insight into the production of e-learning material at Nestlé in Konolfingen.

Eduhub days 2011
To conclude his stay in Switzerland Rodriquez took part in the eduhub days 2011 in Lugano. This year’s conference for staff responsible for e-learning in Swiss universities of applied sciences had as its motto «The Challenge of Open Ideas». Through his participation John Rodriquez was able to lend this national-level exchange an international dimension, which was an enriching experience for both sides.
