2000 new students

This autumn around 2000 students begin their studies in 28 Bachelor and 19 Master degree programmes at Bern University of Applied Sciences. The Engineering and Information Technology department has increased its intake the most, rising by 13 percent. The new Bachelor degree programme in Medical Informatics is being introduced for the first time and is the only course of its kind in Switzerland.

 

The versatile spectrum of degree programmes offered by Bern University of Applied Sciences (BUAS) is as popular as ever. The number of new students for the academic year 2011/2012 has stabilised at a high level.

 

Development continuity
Again this year around 2000 young women and men have opted to study for a Bachelor or Master at one of the six departments at BUAS. With its 28 Bachelor and 19 Master degree programmes the BUAS offers a wide and attractive offering which has now been enhanced by the new Bachelor degree programme in Medical Informatics, the only one of its kind in Switzerland. The degree programmes in the Engineering and Information Technology department lead the field with an increase of 13 percent in comparison to last year.

 

This week 280 students begin their studies at the Department of Architecture, Wood and Civil Engineering. The Health division has maintained a constant level with 322 new Bachelor and Master students. The number of new students in the Business division has remained at a steady high level. This autumn 359 people will tackle the Bachelor course in Business Administration and Business Information Technology or Master course in Business Administration. The Social Work division begins the academic year with 193 new students. The degree programmes offered by Bern University of the Arts are particularly popular: 1100 interested persons registered for an arts degree programme. Due to the Numerus Clausus a maximum of 355 applications could be taken into consideration. This autumn 185 new students begin their studies at the Swiss College of Agriculture. The Sport Bachelor and Master degree programmes attracted 88 newcomers.
