2nd International cookery course
At the end of October the Architecture, Wood and Civil Engineering department of Bern University of Applied Sciences held its second international, interdisciplinary cookery course. Five foreign and twenty-six Swiss students ventured into the culinary worlds of India, the Czech Republic and Germany.
The International Office of the Architecture, Wood and Civil Engineering department organised its second international, interdisciplinary cookery course at the end of October 2011. The purpose of the exercise was to offer international and domestic students a platform away from their everyday study routine and to help them overcome their inhibitions.
Some 31 students accepted the invitation and met up in the school kitchen of Emmental Berufsfachschule. Under the expert guidance of the chef, Serge Muheim, they set about preparing menus from specific countries which the foreign students had submitted beforehand. The participants were divided into four groups and there was much industrious peeling, chopping, marinating, roasting, frying, stirring, mixing, mashing and tasting. The various dishes were then ready to serve.
The occasion was a great success again this year. Due to the large number of applications and requests we received, the culinary gathering will be held for the third time next year.
