A traineeship in Switzerland
Gain experience, develop your language skills, and get to know another culture: a traineeship abroad allows you to do all these at the same time.
We are glad to help students in their search for a suitable position in one of our local partner companies. The best thing to do is to get in touch with the relevant international contact person in your particular area of interest.
Swiss European Mobility Programme
As of the 2014/2015 academic year, Switzerland is a partner country in the well-known EU Erasmus+ programme, which supports internships in Erasmus countries.

The following organisations can help you plan and set up a traineeship:
IAESTE – Traineeships abroad for technical specialisations
IAESTE (International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience) organises traineeships in over eighty countries for students of technical subjects. For foreign students, it offers approximately one hundred traineeships with Swiss firms.
AIESEC internships and volunteer placements abroad – not just for business students
AIESEC is the largest student-led organisation in the world and is active in more than 120 countries. It provides internships in international companies and volunteer placements (in social projects) around the world. The members who run these two programmes and the organisation as a whole are all still students and are therefore able to gain valuable work experience in the most varied areas during their studies – and give something back to society at the same time.
Global Placement – Worldwide traineeship portal
Global Placement is an online organiser of international traineeships. As a database-linked communications portal, it aims to put students and companies in touch with each other worldwide.
We recommend that before leaving for Switzerland you register with the Erasmus Student Network (ESN).
ESN is a Europe-wide student organisation that works for the social and personal integration of exchange students. This work involves organising welcome parties, events, excursions, and personal support during your stay. In addition, exchange students can be met on arrival at the airport if they so desire. As an ERASMUS student, you also have the opportunity of being mentored by a Bern student. Your mentor will be there to help you during your stay, answer any questions that you may have and offer advice and practical assistance.
ESN offers exchange students all-round support. It can reduce the stress of arriving in a new place, simplify things when you’re here and help you make your stay even more fun.
