Frédéric Pichelin elected a Fellow of the International Academy of Wood Science
02.02.2022 Frédéric Pichelin, head of the Institute for Materials and Wood Technology IWH, was elected late last year a Fellow of the International Academy of Wood Science. He is only the fifth Swiss member and the first representative of Bern University of Applied Sciences BFH to be conferred a IAWS fellowship. BFH wishes to congratulate him on this recognition.
«I am deeply honored by this election. It is a great recognition for our research around wood, a material I still find fascinating after 20 years. My fellowship will help us gain even greater visibility in an international context. In the end, our students can also benefit from this. My aim is to continue advocating for a new generation of young researchers willing to engage in wood and sustainable development.»

International Academy of Wood Science
The International Academy of Wood Science is a non-profit assembly of wood scientists, recognizing all fields of wood science with their associated technological domains, and securing a worldwide representation. Fellows of the IAWS are wood scientists who are actively engaged in wood research, their election being evidence of high scientific standards. New Fellows are nominated and evaluated by Fellows. The Executive Committee determines the number of nominees to be accepted as Fellows each year, based on those evaluations. Fourteen new IAWS Fellows were elected at the end of 2021.
