Isabel Engels new in the Swiss expert committee for wood fire safety “Brandsicherheit Holz”
17.06.2022 Isabel Engels has been accepted as a member of the Swiss expert committee for wood fire safety “Brandsicherheit Holz”. The professor of fire protection is the first BFH representative in this committee, which coordinates and directs the activities around fire protection for the material wood in Switzerland.
Fire protection is a central topic at BFH, both in teaching and research and in numerous continuing education courses. BFH also supports companies and institutions in the development of building materials and components that must meet fire protection requirements. Isabel Engels is also involved in the 2026 revision of the fire protection regulations.
The professor of fire protection is the first BFH representative in this committee, which coordinates and directs the activities around fire protection for the material wood in Switzerland. It stands for a qualitative and safe application of wood in terms of fire protection. The goal is an optimal and proactive use of wood in regulations, planning, application and enforcement. The spheres of the timber industry and fire protection are represented and combined in the expert committee. The committee is formed by Lignum, the Association of Cantonal Fire Insurance Companies (AEAI) / Fire Protection Authority and the SIA.
