Presentation
What is High Voltage Engineering about?
In this talk we will give you an introduction to high voltage engineering as a subject of teaching and research at BFH. You will learn about the tasks and applications of high voltage technology. Additionally, you will be able to experience live lab demos from selected research projects.
Presenter
Prof. Dr. Roman Grinberg
Roman Grinberg obtained his Master and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering in 2000 and 2005 respectively. In 2006 he joined ABB Corporate Research, in Baden-Dättwil, Switzerland, as a Scientist, working primarily in energy efficiency and EMC areas. While at ABB he was involved in the development of the innovative IGBT-based 5-level medium voltage converter for industrial application (currently known as ACS2000 product). In 2014 Dr. Grinberg joined Comet AG - worldwide leading Swiss manufacturer of industrial X-ray system components, where he became a Team Leader and Director of HW Development for X-ray High Voltage Power Supplies in 2014 and 2016 respectively. While at Comet AG he was in charge and has contributed to development of innovative power electronics and high voltage design solutions for IVARIO power supply platform.
In 2021 Dr. Grinberg was appointed a Professor of High Voltage Engineering at Bern University of Applied Sciences. His research interests include high voltage generation for industrial/power engineering applications and electromagnetic compatibility. Dr. Grinberg is a senior member of IEEE.
