Swiss-Chinese Summer School

The Department of Engineering and Information Technology of the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH-TI) and the Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) are holding a four-week Summer School, which is open for both BFH-TI and SZTU Bachelor students. The study programme is equivalent to 4 ECTS (120 hours of study). The summer school will be held in Bern and Shenzhen from 29th of July to 23rd of August 2019.

New Energy Technologies: Production, Storage and Mobility

Content

The programme starts in Switzerland with a recapitulation of the basic physical concept of energy and of the physical phenomena related to energy transport, storage and mobility. This basis is extended towards the latest technologies in the field such as electric generators and motors, hydropower, photovoltaic cells, wind turbines, batteries and charging/discharging technology. The second part of the Programme in Shenzhen will be dedicated to new mobility technology such as hybrid and electrical cars and bicycles.

Teaching format

The format of the course is a blend of theory classes, problem classes, laboratory classes and excursions to manufacturers and facilities of new energy technologies. Students are encouraged to work in bi-national groups.

Development, analysis and documentation of a case study; Documentation of laboratory experiments

Participants

BFH-TI and SZTU students of all disciplines. Priority is given to students in the first academic year.

Total costs

Total costs should not exceed 1000 CHF.

Accommodation

Accommodation is free of charge. Meals are not included.

Travelling expenses (Flight, Transfer)

The flight to China (Hongkong) will be organized by BFH-TI. The costs are between 600 - 900 CHF and must be covered by the participant.

Excursion fee

For excursions students are charged with 100 CHF.

Summer School credit for BFH students

For BFH-TI, the Summer School counts for 4 ECTS points towards the ordinary study programme (180 ECTS), with additional registration on IS-Academia by the students’ administration.
