Looking back at the summer school on cross-cultural communication and diversity
The fourth cross-cultural communication and diversity summer school was a success. Fifteen students from five departments as well as from the ZHAW spent an interesting and educational week in Bern in early September.
Theoretical input on culture, transcultural communication and cooperation was given by lecturers from BFH, ZHAW, Chen Taiji Bern and cinfo. Simulations provided tangible experience of transcultural challenges. Among other things, students took part in a lesson on Asian martial arts taught entirely in Korean by Jaewoo Lee of the Chen Taiji school in Bern.
On Thursday evening, at a barbecue and salad buffet organised by students, course participants and teachers engaged in further discussions in an informal atmosphere.
The organisers are satisfied with the outcome: 'There was always a pleasant atmosphere among students and teaching staff, showing motivation and personal interest. All participants were ready and willing to contribute their own experience and broaden their knowledge'.
Participation in the summer school can be credited to the BFH Certificate of Global Competence with 2 ECTS (60 student working hours). The next summer school will take place in 2019.
