Content + structure

Portrait

This CAS is current, generalist and challenging. This part-time continuing education programme will provide you with in-depth knowledge of business administration and help you to move forward in your career. You will gain up-to-date knowledge and apply it in your present or future professional position. You will deal with trends and developments which were of little importance in your original business studies.

Course objectives

  • You will learn application-oriented in-depth knowledge of business administration, which is conveyed with the help of management techniques and methods tailored to the target group.
  • You will understand complex business management interrelationships and analyse them independently.
  • You will lead discussions on business management issues and be able to put other people's contributions into context.
  • You will actively work on your rhetoric and presentation skills.
  • You will broaden and develop your professional horizon and your personal network through the exchange with other students and our lecturers.

This in-service training in business administration consists of different subject blocks which are coordinated with each other. Topics such as Digital Marketing, Sales or Lean Management complement specialised subjects such as Business Development and Economics. Company visits and discussions with successful entrepreneurs allow you to experience modern business management up close and hands on. You will conclude the CAS Advanced Business Administration with a presentation of a transfer report written by yourself. This report should demonstrate your methodical and professional skills.

Successful participation in the programme requires attending classes and passing the competence tests. The following are regarded as proofs of competence:

  • Transfer report: A written paper on a topic of your choice in consultation with the lecturer
  • Short presentation in pairs on a one topic selected from a block of  the CAS topics Groups and topics are defined at the beginning of the CAS
  • Presentation of your transfer report: You present your transfer report and discuss the latest developments in your chosen topic area with the jury and the audience
  • Participation in 5 presentations: You participate in at least 5 presentations of your choice with your fellow students.

Projects + theses

On request, we will be pleased to provide you with a list of the topics covered in previous transfer reports. As a graduate of this CAS you will also have the opportunity to view selected transfer reports by alumni during the semester.

Lecturers

Our lecturers are proven experts with extensive practical and theoretical knowledge in their subject areas. They have at least a university degree plus many years of experience in higher education. 

Requirements + admission

Are you in charge of business-oriented specialist, project management or executive tasks? Do you work in the private sector, administration or for an NGO? Do you have solid business management knowledge and are you looking for a tailor-made in-depth further education in business administration? Do you attach importance to completing a concentrated and manageable further training programme? Then the CAS Business Administration for Advanced Students is the perfect match for your expectations.

University degree

You will be admitted to the programme with a degree from a university, university of applied sciences, university of teacher education, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, or an equivalent foreign university and at least two years of professional experience.

Higher vocational training

If you have a qualification from a higher vocational education institution (Diploma Höhere Fachschule HF, Federal Diploma, Federal Certificate of Proficiency) and several years of professional experience, you will also be admitted to the programme. However, you will be required to attend our Introduction to Academic Study before starting the CAS. Completion of this module is a prerequisite for admission to the CAS.

Exceptions

In exceptional circumstances applicants may still  be admitted. The head of the degree programme will make a decision based upon your application and extenuating circumstances. Please contact us. 

Professional requirements and language skills

Previous education in business administration. This may have taken place within the framework of the following training courses:

  • Study of business administration or business information technology (FH, Uni or HF)
  • CAS Business Administration for Specialists and Managers
  • CAS Business Administration for Health Professionals
  • or similar in consultation with the head of the degree programme

The language of instruction is German and the compulsory literature is also in German. Some texts may be in English.

For all students of our CAS programmes we offer a half-day course Effective Learning. Attendance is recommended and is free of charge for CAS students. At this event, you will learn about the practice-oriented learning style used at universities of applied science.

Organisation + Registration

The programme lasts 21 study days. Approximately one module per month takes place in block lessons all day on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 8.45 - 16.15. Maximum 24 participants.

Organisational aspects of the CAS

Approximately one module per month in block lessons on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8.45 to 16.15.

The registration deadline for the programme is six weeks before it begins. If places are available, later registration is possible.
