SAVE THE DATE: HAFL Hugo P. Cecchini Annual Event 2023 Tuesday, 20 June 2023

Join us at the HAFL Hugo P. Cecchini Institute’s fourth annual event. The theme is “Agroecology: Dreamy buzzword or practical solution for sustainable landscapes and food systems?”

20.06.2023, 2pm–5.30pm

The HAFL Hugo P. Cecchini Institute contributes to the development of sustainable smallholder agricultural, forest and food systems in developing and transition countries.

Since its inception in 2020, we have organised an annual event to bring partners and contributors together to discuss current topics relating to the international development agenda.

This year, our annual event focuses on addressing the role of agroecology in the transition to sustainable landscapes and food systems.

Programme

There will be keynote presentations, interactive-games workshops, a panel discussion, and staff announcements, followed by an apéro. The event will be held in person and streamed online.

Keynote speakers

Keynote speakers are Madeleine Kaufmann, Policy Advisor at the Federal Office for Agriculture (FOAG) and a former student of BFH-HAFL, and Dr Urs Niggli, President of the Institute for Agroecology and the former director of the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL).

Workshops

Interactive-games workshops will explore challenges, opportunities, and trade-offs of agroecology as an approach to fostering sustainable landscapes and food systems. Attendees will have a choice of workshops with different themes. Participation is only available to those attending in person.

Say goodbye and hello

Celebrations for the retirement of Institute Head Dr Dominique Guenat and Dr Christoph Studer, Professor of Natural Resources Management, are part of the programme. Dr Guenat will also do an informal handover to his successor.

Apéro

Mingle with guests and colleagues at the apéro from 17:30.

Registration

The event is free to attend. Registration opens in April, via an online form on the BFH-HAFL website.
