BFH’s degree and continuing education programmes score well

30.06.2026 BFH’s annual quality survey results for studies and continuing education are out. The 2025 figures are encouragingly high, particularly regarding the very short waiting time before entering the workforce.

Key points at a glance

  • Every year, the Quality Management of Bern University of Applied Sciences conducts a student survey on its education and continuing education programmes.
  • In recent years, BFH graduates have enjoyed above-average career prospects compared with students from other Swiss universities of applied sciences. In 2025, 90% of BFH new bachelor’s and master’s graduates found employment within 4 months.
  • BFH’s continuing education programmes systematically received high ratings, with 89% of graduates ready to recommend their CAS.

Every year, the Quality Management of Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) collects and analyses twelve key performance indicators on its bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes. The evaluation system uses quality indicators classified into four priority levels. The results are used to continuously improve BFH’s study programmes.

Career entry sooner than average

Among the wide range of findings from this survey, some stand out in particular. For instance, graduates were asked how long it took them to secure their first job after completing their studies. In 2025, 90% of BFH graduates (bachelor’s and master’s degree programme) had secured employment within four months of graduation in a position requiring a university of applied sciences degree. Once again, this figure has increased in comparison with the previous year, by a further 2 percentage points. In a comparison of Swiss universities of applied sciences, BFH students thus scored well above the average of 48% for bachelor graduates and 58% for master graduates (source: Federal Statistical Office FSO). The percentage of graduates who had already been hired before completing their studies is included, both in the survey conducted by the FSO and the one conducted by BFH.

These figures provide a snapshot of the surveyed period. BFH is closely monitoring the evolution of career entry opportunities in the current context and is reacting accordingly.

Focus on employability

In contrast to the positive results regarding career entry, the figures for employability decreased slightly, standing at 73%. While studies are seen as a stepping stone to a career, the knowledge gained helps better understand the interrelations within the professional world. However, the graduates object that their studies do not adequately prepare them for the realities of the job market. Having identified a potential for action in this field, BFH offers students a range of career services, including its Studentjobs platform, CareerBooster workshops and mentoring programmes with BFH alumni. It is also further strengthening its alumni work, which promotes networking and the exchange of experiences among graduates.

High recommendation rates for CAS programmes

BFH’s continuing education stands out by providing many tools to participants: 89% are satisfied with the organisation, despite the high heterogeneity of programmes and various challenges. The recommendation rates also confirm the trust placed in BFH’s continuing education programmes. An impressive 89% of graduates would recommend their CAS.

Consistently high scores for continuing education

For several years now, BFH has achieved high satisfaction ratings in continuing education. The data is based on surveys conducted at the conclusion of CAS programmes, with information collected for four quality indicators: satisfaction with the content, knowledge gained, satisfaction with the organisation and likelihood of recommending the programme to others. In 2025, 89% of graduates from CAS programmes rated their course content positively. Another key strength lies in the increase in knowledge achieved: 92% of respondents say they “learned a lot” on their continuing education course.

Response rates in study programmes could be improved

While response rates in continuing education have steadily increased to nearly 60%, there is room for improvement in the study programmes. In 2025, about a quarter of the students participated in the survey. BFH will take further measures to increase the response rate in the future and achieve broader-based results.

BFH would like to thank all students and graduates for their valuable feedback.
