Services + Expertise

Our current focus areas fall into two categories: monitoring and evaluating sport in the military and monitoring athletic training.

Expertise

Monitoring

We run large-scale monitoring surveys with objective measuring devices, including data analysis regarding physical performance, strain and injuries.

Developing measurement methods

We develop measurement methods in the area of physical activity and monitoring athletic training, using objective sensors and devices.

Army fitness test

We are responsible for quality management during the basic and advanced training of FTA sport experts in Swiss recruitment centres.

Services

Research + Development

  • Employing various parameters to monitor and describe young Swiss conscripts’ physical performance. These measures include the army fitness test (FTA), lessons on topics in sport, and the physical strain of everyday military life. We also study the correlation between injuries and premature discharge from military service.
  • We are responsible for quality management during the basic and advanced training of FTA sport experts in Swiss recruitment centres.
  • We develop measurement methods with the aim of objectively improving the type, intensity and other qualities of endurance sport training. Our starting point: data gathered from athletes themselves, who are outfitted with wearable sensors. Contract research options are also available.
  • The unit is represented and participates in collaborative research projects with NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) and CISM (International Military Sports Council).

Consulting services

  • Scientific consulting and support for the Centre for Sport in the Army (Komp Zen Sport A) and Swiss Army training. We are also developing a training application to prepare new recruits for their military service.
  • Conducting and evaluating annual performance tests for external groups that engage in physically demanding tasks and responsibilities (e.g. fire brigade):

Facilities
