The Master studies in Midwifery will provide you with the requisite knowledge to assist women with pre-existing health issues to focus on strengthening those aspects of their body that are healthy. As a graduate of the Master’s degree programme in Midwifery, you will be able to provide appropriate, expert midwifery care and assistance in complex childbirth situations. This will include experience of the perinatal care of women and families from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds. We will also deal with the issues concerning the needs which can arise in women from socially disadvantaged backgrounds during pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. Moreover, we will critically examine the increased incidence of chronic, somatic and psychological concomitant illnesses and the effects that they have on pregnancy, birth, the postnatal period and breastfeeding.
