Master of Science Midwifery


The Master studies in Midwifery will provide you with the requisite knowledge to assist women with pre-existing health issues to focus on strengthening those aspects of their body that are healthy. As a graduate of the Master’s degree programme in Midwifery, you will be able to provide appropriate, expert midwifery care and assistance in complex childbirth situations. This will include experience of the perinatal care of women and families from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds. We will also deal with the issues concerning the needs which can arise in women from socially disadvantaged backgrounds during pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. Moreover, we will critically examine the increased incidence of chronic, somatic and psychological concomitant illnesses and the effects that they have on pregnancy, birth, the postnatal period and breastfeeding.

With a Master’s degree in Midwifery, you will be able to lead and assist in expert perinatal care within an interdisciplinary and multi-professional team in complex childbirth situations by providing comprehensive advice and continuity of care. 


You will process and impart evidence-based content with a public health perspective at various levels of training.


You will also have the option of taking up roles in professional leadership and management.
