RISE-Armenia: Tackling key constraints to sustainable agricultural production in Armenia under transition

Systematical analysis of the sustainability of agricultural production through large-scale RISE evaluations. The initiated policy dialogue leads to more favourable conditions for sustainable production and an easier transition period.

Contexte initial

A core group of scientists of the Armenian State Agrarian University was introduced to RISE and the principles of sustainable agricultural production. This center of competence is now using RISE in teaching and research, and training farm advisory services in making use of RISE. The project assists farmers & extension services in addressing deficits and bottlenecks, and decision makers in taking measures for creating a more favourable environment for sustainable production.

But

Identifcation of strengths & weaknesses of farms, provides a full picture of the sustainability of agricultural production. Thus bridging development, research & policy in order to improve livelihoods while conserving the resource base.

Compétences clés

Holistic advise to various stakeholders in the agricultural production. Introduction of the RISE tool to Universities.

Résultat

Analyse von 200 Bauernbetrieben mit RISE. Identifikation in partizipativem Prozess mit verschiedenen Akteuren von "entry points" zur Verbesserung der Nachhaltigkeit der armenischen Landwirtschaft. Etablierung einer Community of Practice.

Perspectives

Die armenischen Projektpartner (ICARE) betreiben die "Communitiy of Practice" für eine nachhaltige Landwirtschaft.
