PicoHi: Picosecond High Power Yb3+ Power Amplifier

Traditional laser systems are complex and adjustement intensive and their beam quality depends on their output power and on ambient factors. Fiber lasers can achieve good beam quality and high power levels at a fraction of complexity.

Contexte initial

To reach the project goal several actions are planned: A large core laser fiber for the end stage of the system will be developped. The size of the core wiIl be large enough to generate pulses shorter than 50 ps without suffering too much from non-linear effects at the intensities needed for micromachining. The system will be based on diode technology for the generation of the ps pulses and will feature advanced pumping concepts.
