The project which is coordinated by FAO and supported by the Worldbank develops strategies, technologies and decision support tools for sustainable livestock production in Thailand, Vietnam and Guangdong Province of China.

Contexte initial

The rapid development of livestock production in East Asia can cause serious pressure on the environment and health hazards. LWMEAP was designed to implement and demonstrate sustainable manure management solutions on pioneer farms in Thailand, Vietnam and Guangdong Province of China and to develop appropriate decision support tools. HAFL is involved in the development of a computer-based model "Support of Treatment and Recycling of Animal Waste (STRAW)".


In the framework of the Livestock Waste Management in East Asia Project, a computer-based decision support tool is developed. The model provides guidance and technical and financial calculations on different manure management strategies.
