This 5th Edition of the summer school on «Nutritional Aspects in Rehabilitation Exercise» focuses on personalised rehabilitation. Diet and exercise are two very important components of healthy living that play a vital role in the rehabilitation process. This course will summarize some of the basic concepts of diet and exercise and elaborate on aspects of personalized diet and exercise during rehabilitation.

During this 5-day course the focus will be on different topics such as: exercise physiology and training, nutrition, assessment and telemedicine in rehabilitation.

There will be a mix of lectures and workshops where participants will acquire and develop knowledge and skills needed for individualized nutrition and exercise in various conditions that require rehabilitation. The course includes workshops on sweat analysis, urine analysis, blood glucose, blood lactate and ketones concentration measurements during exercise, but also new insights on nutrigenomics and the impact of diet on gene-expression, recovery and glucosecontrol.

The summer school is organised by the University of Antwerp, the Bern University of Applied Sciences, the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the University of Hasselt with an exciting mix of international and domestic speakers. The 2020 Edition will be on location at Antwerp University (Belgium), while the 2021 Edition will be again at BFH Campus.
