Welcome Event 2016 – Trip to the Gurten
Thirty international students took part in this semester’s welcome event! We met at 5.30pm at the Gurten’s lower station, from where we travelled up Bern’s 332m ‘house mountain’ with its wonderful views of the city.
Up at the top, the latest attraction is a 500m toboggan run. Fortunately the weather was fine and everyone got to whizz down the hill three times. You could decide on your own speed, so while a few crazies raced down without braking, others took it more comfortably. One way or another, all the students had fun.
Gurten – discovery tour
After the toboggan run, the students were free to discover the Gurten on their own. The 25m-high viewing tower and the legendary 300m-long ball run were the highlights.
Presentation and aperitif
At around 8pm, we finally met up in a reserved room at the Bel Etage Restaurant, where the students got information about Uni Sport and ESN (Erasmus Student Network).
After the presentations, BFH provided an aperitif. The Asian students in particular were very keen to get their hands on the mini cheese quiches!
At 10pm, a group of intrepid HAFL Forest Science students made their way on foot by torchlight down to Wabern. The rest took the Gurten funicular.
