The “Cultural Probes” app that is similar to a questionnaire that can be responded to by selecting or shooting of images was developed and tested on different test takers. Results were collected by means of a short and a long version of the test with the help of the target audience, the Swiss Travellers. First image analysis confirmed the assumption that Cultural Probes transfered to new media (smartphone) offer new opportunities for data collection and promising results.

Looking ahead

In cooperation with a practice partner, it would be possible in a follow-up project, to extend the app to include additional functions, such as location determination, barometer or time-dependent data retrieval.
