Machine and Business Ethics (BTW9009)

The objective of this course is to develop students’ ability to understand, frame, discuss, evaluate and critique ethical dilemmas embedded in the engineering practice and their intersection with contemporary issues in economic, technological, environmental, and social contexts.

By the end of the course, the students will be able to:

  • Recognize major ethical theories and concepts in ethics.

  • Recognize moral dilemmas, assess them, and con-struct valid arguments with the aid of mainstream ethical theories in their own field of engineering.

  • Develop skills in defending their views both orally and in writing through group discussions.

  • Perform their future work as a professionals or managers in the design, development, production and control of technology in an ethical and socially responsible way.
