Ausgangslage
The project addresses the tragic situation in Cotabato, which results from an unfortunate combination of transition of political power to newly established Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Covid-19 pandemic and lack of science based agrarian policy. The project pursues to inform policy and civil society with scientific evidence obtained by studying the impacts of prevalent agricultural land-use on natural resources (soil and water). This project supplements the activities of 'going bananas' project in Philippines, by supporting the scientific research and policy support activities.
Vorgehen
This project aims at obtaining scientific evidence to inform policy decisions. The project addresses the tragic situation in Cotabato, which results from an unfortunate combination of transition of political power to newly established Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Covid-19 pandemic and lack of science based agrarian policy. The project pursues to inform policy and civil society with scientific evidence obtained by studying the impacts of prevalent agricultural land-use on natural resources (soil and water). Taking strategic advantage of an ongoing public-private partnership (called Going Bananas) established in Philippines – with financial subsidy from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency – our project pursues to maximize the scientific and outreach impact of Swiss science and innovation with the available resources.
