Cross-Cultural Communication and Diversity (BID0372)

Cultural diversity is part of our daily environment – especially in an urban context such as Bern. This Summer School invites students to explore cross-cultural communication as a lived, relational and dynamic practice.
The course aims to raise awareness of cultural differences, communication styles and unspoken assumptions that shape social interaction. Theoretical frameworks and models from social and cultural anthropology, cross-cultural communication and diversity studies are combined with experiential learning.
Through interactive formats, field visits and encounters with people from diverse cultural backgrounds in Bern, students explore real-life cross-cultural situations and reflect on their own positioning.
