Objectives

Continuing education programmes at Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) address current demands in business, society and culture. They take into account dynamic professional contexts and growing globalisation.

At BFH, you will benefit from a mix of specialised content, exercises, practical examples and the transfer of newly acquired knowledge into your professional practice. Upon completing an continuing education programme, you will be prepared to apply your new-found knowledge in the workplace. Our offerings are flexible and modular in structure, which allows you to align your training with your individual needs and obligations.

Titles + Certificates

We offer a wide-ranging selection of continuing education programmes at BFH. Around 230 continuing education programmes at tertiary level are currently available at BFH (EMBA, MAS, DAS, CAS). The Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) and Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) are advanced degree programmes within Switzerland’s educational system. They are subject to institutional accreditation of the respective university and, in some cases, to specific programme accreditation. Part-time studies generally require 4–5 semesters to complete. Modular programmes must be completed within five years. Both conclude with a final master’s project. The degree programmes comprise at least 60 ECTS credits. We generally require applicants to hold a professional degree.

The Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS) programme is intended for university graduates. This part-time course runs 3–4 semesters. You must obtain at least 30 ECTS credits to graduate. DAS graduates receive a diploma from Bern University of Applied Sciences.

The Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) is a part-time certificate course that requires at least 10 ECTS credits. This course runs 1–2 semesters. It is intended for university graduates, who receive a certificate from Bern University of Applied Sciences upon completion.

Bern University of Applied Sciences offers a wide range of courses and seminars across eight departments. These offerings are aimed at students from a variety of backgrounds, and we do not generally require you to hold a degree from a university of applied sciences.

ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) is a system recognised across Europe for determining, transferring and accumulating student learning achievements. Your performance in continuing education programmes is calculated according to ECTS. One credit is equal to approximately 25–30 student working hours. One academic year equates to 60 credits.
