Invitation to the exchange «Food systems with a future» – Netherlands & Switzerland 25 August 2022

On 25 August 2022, the School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences - HAFL and Netherlands Embassy in Bern invite you to an exchange on food systems with a future between the Netherlands and Switzerland.

The aim of the exchange is for actors in the agricultural and food sectors from the Netherlands and Switzerland to get to know each other and to exchange views on their various strategies for food systems with a future. Current research findings and approaches to sustainable agriculture and food will be presented and discussed. We want to learn from each other, foster relationships and use synergies.

After his study of Human Nutrition at Wageningen University in the Netherlands, Nard Clabbers worked for the food industry for more than a decade as the liaison between marketing and science. 
In 2011 he joined Dutch applied research organisation TNO to lead the nutrition and health business line. Also at TNO, he then set up the world’s largest public-private research consortium on personalised nutrition and health together with Wageningen University and Research. His current position is Chief Science Officer for Happ (myhapp.nl), a personalised nutrition company helping consumers to choose and buy better nutrition based on their personal profile and goals.

Jeroen Willemsen (1972) is Innovation Lead Protein Shift at Foodvalley NL and known as ‘the Protein Commissioner of the Netherlands’. His mission: changing the protein game. In 20 years, Jeroen created an ecosystem in the Netherlands guiding the protein transition beyond its tipping point. Sharing his experience as researcher, entrepreneur and ecosystem builder, Jeroen is and internationally renowned food-transition-inspirator. Recently, Jeroen initiated the Dutch Green Deal Protein Rich Crops and the Producer Organization Dutch Protein Famers.

Michel Wouda (1970) works his whole career in the FMCG. The first part of his career he worked for a Dutch Supermarket organization in different commercial roles. Since 2006 he shifted from the supermarket side to the supplier side. He has been a sales lead for known A-Brands as HAK (vegetables in jar) and Spa (mineral water and lemonades) and since two years working for the fruit vegetable cooperation Harvest House, responsible for the department Food Fellows. Food Fellows is the company which makes added value concept for retail, foodservice and industry out from residual flows tomatoes and bell peppers.

This is how you reach the Rütti:

Public transport: Every quarter of an hour with the RBS from Bern railway station to Worblaufen or Unterzollikofen. From Unterzollikofen station it is a 10–15 minute walk to INFORAMA Rütti, from Worblaufen station it is a 20–25 minute walk.

By car: 5 minutes from the Schönbühl, Wankdorf or Neufeld motorway exits. Parking spaces are limited and subject to charge. We recommend travelling by public transport.
