High Voltage and EMC Laboratory

The laboratory is a competence centre specialising in high-voltage technology applications in the energy supply and industrial sectors, as well as in electromagnetic compatibility.

Our Laboratory

Being established in 1992, the laboratory has been an important part of teaching and applied research at BFH. State-of-the art testing infrastructure provides ideal conditions for collaboration with industry. One of the laboratory’s key strengths is its infrastructure and expertise in the field of lightning current tests.

Services

We offer

  • Student projects and theses in cooperation with industry
  • Applied research projects in collaboration with partners from industry
  • Tests conducted in accordance with standards or customer requirements, or to accompany a project in its development stage

Competencies

One of our core competencies are impulse stress tests, in particular, lightning current tests. Another core competence is the expertise in electronics in the areas of high-voltage generation and measurement.
Our know-how also covers other fields, including the testing of electrical strength of materials and components, partial discharge measurements and electric field simulations.
