  • Aybike Öngel is a senior researcher at the School of Architecture, Wood and Civil Engineering at BFH. She worked as Academic Programs Director and Lecturer at AI Business School in Switzerland from 2020 to 2022 and as the Principal Investigator of the Automotive Engineering team at TUMCREATE Singapore (joint research platform of Technical University of Munich and Nanyang Technical University Singapore) from 2017 to 2020. She held appointments as Associate and Assistant Professor at various universities between 2007 and 2017. From 2010-2012, she worked as a part-time Visiting Researcher in Road Engineering/Sealing Components Department at EMPA Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology. She received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering with an emphasis in transportation from University of California Davis in 2003, and 2007, respectively. Her research interests include pavement engineering, asphalt and concrete materials characterization, environmental life cycle assessment, life cycle cost assessment, and road/vehicle noise and interaction .
