CV

  • Ilaria is originally from Rome, Italy, where she completed her undergraduate studies in Chemistry at La Sapienza University of Rome. In 2020, she moved to Fribourg, Switzerland, to join the Polymer Chemistry and Materials group of Prof. Weder at the Adolphe Merkle Institute as a PhD candidate. During her doctoral studies, she specialized in the synthesis, development, and characterization of stimuli-responsive supramolecular interpenetrating polymer networks.
  • In April 2025, Ilaria joined Bloom Biorenewables in Renens, Switzerland, as innovation scientist for a six-month internship. There, she contributed to the development and scale-up of innovative biomass-derived products and processes, gaining hands-on experience with biopolymers, particularly lignin.
  • At the end of 2025, Ilaria joined the Energy Technology group led by Prof. Studer at the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) as a postdoctoral researcher. Her work focuses on biomass valorization, developed within an interdisciplinary collaboration involving the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) and the University of Houston (USA).
