• Lucia Gomez Teijeiro is an Assistant Professor (tenure track) at the Bern University of Applied Sciences and Senior Lecturer and Researcher at the University of Geneva. Her work focuses on the development of interdisciplinary, application-oriented solutions in data science and artificial intelligence, spanning domains such as finance, philanthropy, or neuroscience.
  With a background in psychology (BSc), computational neuroscience and molecular biology (MSc, PhD), and computer science (PhD, postdoc), she brings a neurocognitive and decision-making centric perspective to AI system design. Her current research interests center in generative and interpretable AI, including transformer-based models and agentic systems for supporting real-world decisions.
  In addition to research, she teaches and coordinates education programs in applied data science and AI, supervises students research across levels, participates in workshops and conferences for knowledge and research dissemination, and is engaged in several research associative networks.
  Across endeavors, Lucia is committed to reproducible and open science, and has a strong orientation towards developing AI solutions that are societally beneficial.

ARNOVA’s Emerging Scholars Fund is given to ten (10) applicants annually to recognize the potentials of the next generation of nonprofit scholars and practitioners. This fund is designed to support the efforts of emerging scholars and practitioners to foster dissemination of research into practice and enhance involvement in the creation of usable knowledge.

During the virtual ERNOP Conference 2021, the award for the best conference paper went to Lucia Gomez Teijeiro and Giuseppe Ugazio their work on ‘Mapping the Swiss Philanthropy Sector Through Big Data’.

In 2023,~290 papers were nominated for the Development's Outstanding Paper prize and the editor team whittled this down to a shortlist of 16 (listed below); from these, we selected two joint winners and a runner-up. "Developmental emergence of cortical neurogliaform cell diversity" by Gomez, L. et al., was among the 16 shortlisted.
