Data-driven. Tailor-made. Goal-orientated. This course in data-driven management will help you to improve your decision-making process. By employing business intelligence and visual analytics techniques you will be able to use your time and other resources more efficiently. Thanks to your participation in this specialist course, you will have a better understanding of current technologies and the organisational environment, thus optimising decision-making. 

Training objective

You will acquire a broad spectrum of insights into the field of business intelligence and visual analytics in organisational practice by applying BI software based on real examples and anonymised data sets. 

The specialist course PowerBI Bootcamp promotes and develops the following skills: 

  • Strategic discussion and decision-making  

  • Reflection on applied techniques and defined metrics  

  • Designing your own dashboards  

  • Basics of data visualisation and visual analytics 

  • Basics of data modelling

Overview of contents 

  1. Power BI for strategic decision-making: (for example in marketing, HR, sales etc.) Use of time intelligence, definition of KPIs, recognition of trends.  

  2. Field reports from practice: BI change processes, strategic embedding, make-or-buy decisions, success stories, future prospects. 

  3. Power BI workflows: (for example survey results, evaluation results etc.) Combination of different data sources, sample comparisons, descriptive statistics.  

  4. Dashboard layout and visual analytics: you will explore the visualisation library, interactive functions, filtering, managing relationships and interactions between visual representations. 

In each session, the entire BI workflow from data preparation to visualisation will be followed and applied. The central concern is to improve your business intelligence skills in the following three dimensions: 

Brain: reflection on the chosen approach 
Heart: practical data stories 
Hand: tangible business application 

In this continuing education course in management you will learn a practice-orientated combination of methods in a fitting environment: 

  • Keynote presentations 

  • Case studies 

  • Work in small groups 

  • Plenary discussions 

  • Short presentations 

Successful participation in the specialist course requires regular attendance of the classroom events and completion of the proof of competence. The proof of competence consists of an individual, applied project in which PowerBI is employed. 

Successful completion of the proof of competence is the prerequisite for the award of 3 ECTS credits. 

Qualification + Title

Specialist course "PowerBI Bootcamp” 

All participants will receive a confirmation of participation. Participants who meet the admission requirements for studying at a university of applied sciences and who successfully complete the proof of competence will be awarded 3 ECTS credits. These will be shown on the course confirmation certificate.

In this course you will acquire a wide range of skills: from data preparation to data modelling and data visualisation.

The duration of the course is 5 attendance days spread over about 4 weeks. Each course day will consist of four topic-orientated sessions.

Course materials and proofs of competence are included in the fee.
