BFH, Google and UBS team up to advance mobile transaction security and convenience

02.12.2022 To make mobile transactions even more convenient and secure, Google, UBS and the University of Applied Sciences Bern BFH are working together in the Innosuisse project «Hardware Protected Confirmation».

The Digitalization of our society is an ongoing trend and financial institutions as well as others are striving to leverage the rich capabilities of smart phones for their services. To make Android Protected Confirmation the standard for «Protected Confirmation» across Android devices, researchers from the University of Applied Sciences Bern BFH are working with Google and UBS in the Innosuisse project «Hardware Protected Confirmation». The project is co-financed by UBS’s venture and innovation unit, UBS Next, and supported by Swiss software firm Adnovum.

«We see a huge potential in such a standard supporting security-critical use cases like transaction confirmation, authentication with linking, shareholder voting, medical device steering, access un-locking or electronic signing» says Benjamin Fehrensen, Professor for IT Security and Privacy and researcher at the Institute for Cybersecurity and Engineering ICE at BFH.
