CV

  • Sylvain Le Coultre studied physics at the EPFL and realized 2009 his PhD at the Institute of Physics of Nanostructures. From 2009 - 2011 he worked as engineer at the plasma processing group of EPFL, developping an RF Plasma source patented by the start-up Helyssen for PECVD barrier thin film processing on PET foils for packaging applications. He joined then company Glas Trösch AG and worked between 2011 - 2016 as R&D Project Leader dealing with low-E and AR coatings on glass substrates, leading several project together with academic partners (EMPA Thun) and supporting the production facilities in Europe. From 2016 - 2021, he worked as Production Manager at Blösch AG and was responsible for the production of coatings for medical, watch and sensor applications. He worked in clean room ISO 5 environment with custom made sputtering reactors, E-beam evaporation units and electroplating workshop. He was involved in the project management of automation projects and integrated successfully a cobot (YUMI from ABB) for sapphire lenses assembly. Since 2021, he joined the Institute ALPS at BFH to give lectures in physics and lead applied research projects together with industrial partners.
