Sebastian Wörwag becomes the New President of BFH

16.12.2019 Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) has chosen Sebastian Wörwag to be its new president. The current president of St. Gallen University of Applied Sciences will take on the post on September 1st, 2020.

After a comprehensive selection procedure, the University Board of the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) selected 53-year-old Sebastian Wörwag to be the new president on December 12th. Wörwag has been the president of St. Gallen University of Applied Sciences for 16 years. He has many years of professional experience at technical universities and proven leadership skills.

At the media conference on Monday, December 16th, the BFH University Board Chair, Markus Ruprecht, announced the appointment: “Sebastian Wörwag has shown excellent performance leading complex organisations in the field of higher education, and he has extensive experience in managing strategic development projects. In Sebastian Wörwag, we have found a president who is an excellent fit for the Bern University of Applied Sciences, both personally and professionally.”

Wörwag explained his personal motivation at the media conference: “The Bern University of Applied Sciences has excellent conditions to build on its strong position and start something fantastic. I am really looking forward to this job and the challenges it brings with it.”

Sebastian Wörwag will take on his new post in Bern on September 1st, 2020. The current president, Herbert Binggeli, will retire on June 30th, 2020. During the transition, the vice president, Magdalena Schindler Stokar, will be interim head of the BFH.
