Result

The project identified potential risks associated with patient-facing chatbots in general, and with a chatbot providing recommendations on complementary therapies in particular. We developed mitigation strategies and specific recommendations on how to address these risks. The project concluded that generative AI in patient-centred applications has the potential to improve healthcare by increasing access, improving comprehensibility and fostering greater patient self-determination. However, this potential can only be realised if stakeholders take their responsibility for technology seriously. It is the responsibility of developers, providers and institutions equally to systematically analyse and minimise risks through design, communication and regulation.

This project contributes to the following SDGs
