CV

  • Yannis Rammos is a pianist and a specialist in Schenkerian interpretive practice. He regularly delivers piano and chamber music masterclasses around Europe, most recently at St Petersburg Conservatory, the Verbier Festival Academy, the Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität für Musik, the Finnish Music Campus, the Estonian Academy for Music & Theater, and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, among other venues.

His research primarily intertwines theories of linear counterpoint, Russian theories of "intonatsiya," Soviet performance traditions, timbre theory, and poststructuralist critical thought. He is currently a research associate (postdoc) in the EPFL Digital & Cognitive Musicology Lab and was formerly based in the Sibelius Academy Music Theory Department. He is appointed to the editorial board of the journal Analitica.

He undertook his doctoral studies in piano and music theory jointly at the CUNY Graduate Center (USA) and New York University, and pursued further artistic training in Russia with Viktor Abramov.
