CV

  • Alexander Hunziker, Ph.D. in Economics, is a professor of economics at the Bern University of Applied Sciences. In the areas of positive leadership, mindfulness, and resilience, he trains executives and conducts applied research. He heads the corresponding research group at the New Work Institute. He also teaches research methodology in executive education programs.

    • He studied economics and psychology and earned his Ph.D. in business administration, both from the University of Zurich. His dissertation focused on organization and strategy in the public sector.
    • As a consultant, he has supported numerous change initiatives and contributed to a wide variety of executive assessments and training programs.
    • He played a key role in shaping the EMBA program in Public Management at Bern University of Applied Sciences and led it from its inception in 2001 until 2021.
    • He has worked in Germany, South Africa, and Japan. During his sabbatical in 2009, he was a visiting scholar at Harvard University in Boston, USA.
    • For several years, he has been engaged with positive psychology and meditation from both scientific and practical perspectives. He is an NLP Master Practitioner and a certified mindfulness teacher.
    • He is the author of various academic books about “Strategic Public Management” and “scientific work" (10th edition). His latest book about “Positive Leadership” (3rd edition 2026, in press).
