This work-study EMBA in Controlling and Management gives you the tools you need to become the expert in financial management at your company. To be fully prepared for a top controlling position you will need comprehensive training in leadership and strategic corporate management. As a good controller, you will also act as an internal consultant. You will learn to speak the language of management so that you can convince colleague of the validity of your ideas and analysis. This will also entail improving your personal and social skills, your ability to present confidently and form persuasive arguments.

You will learn how to deal with financial and business-relevant issues within a modern, progressive learning atmosphere. You will benefit from teamwork, presentations, plenary discussions, as well as lectures. You will solve tasks and work on case studies, study literature, attend lectures, workshops and seminars. Furthermore, you always have the opportunity to exchange your experiences in class with your classmates. 

The main form of examination is written exams. In addition, you will also be required to write a so-called “transfer report”. In this report you will take a topic from the course and apply it to practice at your company. This allows you to deepen your knowledge of the subject and connect it to the real world. Furthermore, this will also prepare you for your thesis. Your thesis is assessed according to a predetermined evaluation rubric, which includes the comprehensiveness of reasoning its applicability in practice as criteria.

Eligibility & Entry

Are you an expert in accounting and controlling or an auditor? Then this part-time EMBA in controlling and management could be the perfect programme for you. The content of the course is tailored to you previous professional knowledge and experience.

Admission requirements

Do you have a degree as a Chartered Expert in Financial and Managerial Accounting and Reporting, or as a Chartered Expert in Financial Auditing? If this is the case, then you will only have to complete one (instead of two) years of study before obtaining an EMBA degree. Do you have a university degree? In this case you will complete the EMBA (four CAS) in two years.

Exceptions

The head of the programme decides according to your application - "sur dossier" - after you have applied.

Professional requirements

Several years of professional experience in accounting & controlling are necessary.

Knowledge & skills

The course requires the in-depth knowledge acquired in preparation for examinations and content.

Application + Practicalities

The course Introduction to Scientific Study is compulsory for all students without a university degree. It provides the students with methodological skills for the successful completion of a CAS degree.

Application + Practicalities

The EMBA comprises of 30 days of study. The days of study are Thursday to Saturday from 8.30 - 16.30 with a maximum of 12 participants. The one-year programme comprises 40 ECTS credits. Furthermore, 20 ECTS credits will be received for previous education.

The course takes place from Thursday to Saturday from 8.30-16.30.

The registration deadline for the EMBA is 3 weeks before the start.

All compulsory literature, course materials and examinations are included in the costs. (For the Six Sigma seminar, there will be additional expensed up to CHF 300 for the hotel, including overnight accommodation and full board). 

The continuing education regulations of the Bern University of Applied Sciences and the implementation regulations for the continuing education regulations apply. The right to make changes is reserved. In case of doubt, the wording of the legal provisions and regulations shall prevail.
