Conservative therapies have great potential to help patients with orthopaedic injuries. Especially therapeutic approaches with educational and self-efficacy content are promising, but little research has been done so far.

The aim of this randomized controlled trial is to investigate the benefits of a physiotherapeutic daily course intervention on pain and foot function in Hallux valgus in a two-year follow-up.

Course of action

Hallux valgus is a common fore foot pathology. Severe cases meet the criteria for surgical intervention. A holistic therapy approach (information, teaching, empowerment, exercises) is thought to be beneficial. The project investigates usual care after hallux valgus diagnosis resulting in the eligibility for reconstructive surgery in comparison with usual care plus a physiotherapy intervention in a randomized clinical trial.
