Situation
Growing health-related challenges among students are pushing schools to their limits. Particularly in rural municipalities, it is becoming increasingly difficult to recruit physicians for mandatory school medical examinations. Sustainable care models involving School Nurses are needed to ensure low-threshold and equitable access to healthcare services for all students. School Nurses are still a relatively new and little-known concept in German-speaking Switzerland. In the Canton of Bern, the school medical regulation is currently being revised to include a delegated model that incorporates School Nurses.
Course of action
To foster networking, information events were held for municipalities, schools, and students. These events introduced the new school medical regulation and provided insight into the role and responsibilities of School Nurses.
