Social security systems, such as social welfare, unemployment insurance, invalidity insurance and old-age and survivors’ insurance, serve as a safeguard against life risks and to equalise life opportunities. Our research focuses on how these systems function, how they interrelate and how they are embedded in social developments and contexts.
