2Minutes4Future

2Minutes4Future is a BFH-wide project that provides a low-threshold entry point for integrating Education for Sustainable Development into existing training and continuing education programs.

Factsheet

Situation

In the 2023/24 academic year, the ‘Sustainable Development’ working group at the School of Health Professions initiated the pilot project ‘2Slides4Future’. The aim was to integrate the topic of environment and health into teaching with minimal effort required from the involved lecturers. Selected lecturers added two slides to their teaching units that linked the course content to the concept of planetary health. The evaluation showed that both lecturers and students wished to continue the project. As a result, in the 2024/25 academic year the project was transferred to the School of Engineering and Information Technology as well as to the Bern Academy of the Arts, where it was further developed across departments with a focus on Education for Sustainable Development.

Course of action

2Minutes4Future takes into account the diversity of teaching methods at BFH by creating space for the topic of Education for Sustainable Development in teaching — whether with or without slides. The workshops for lecturers established in the preliminary project are now available to all lecturers across BFH, offered in German/French or German/English, and provide a low-threshold introduction to linking one’s own teaching with Education for Sustainable Development.

Result

In addition to the workshops for lecturers, a Moodle course containing all relevant materials for lecturers is being compiled, and an introductory project overview for students is being created.
