BFH and Sensopro are developing a new training device

26.06.2023 An innovative training device called Motor-Sensopro is intended to enable training of the foot and ankle joints as well as balance in a safe environment. It is being developed by the company Sensopro together with researchers from the Laboratory for Rehabilitation Engineering at the Bern University of Applied Sciences BFH.

Whether for top athletes or senior citizens: the "Luna" and "Casa" training devices developed by the Swiss company Sensopro are becoming increasingly popular in the sports and rehabilitation sector. For even more varied training, in which foot and ankle joints in particular can be exercised, Sensopro is developing a new training device in an Innosuisse project together with researchers from the Laboratory for Rehabilitation Engineering at the Bern University of Applied Sciences BFH: the Motor-Sensopro.

It is a system consisting of two foot platforms and a harness that supports and secures the person exercising. This allows balance to be trained and challenged in a safe environment without the risk of falling. In addition, patients can be easily transferred to the training device, which also ensures safety and relieves the therapists and training assistants. During the training, the movements are controlled and thanks to interactive feedback, different training patterns can be created, which are exactly adapted to the level of the person training. Patients in (neuro)rehabilitation, professional athletes and the general public, for example in preparation for the ski season, can benefit from this type of training.
