  • Áron Korózs is a political scientist whose research focuses on the intersections of space, race, and queerness, with particular attention to how these categories are produced, negotiated, and contested through social, political, and institutional practices, with a specific focus on the profession of social work.

    He is currently pursuing a PhD in Social Sciences at KU Leuven under the supervision of Prof. Huub van Baar, investigating "Social Governmentality and Resistance of Traveling Communities in Post-1972 Switzerland". His doctoral research examines the development of state-sponsored sites for itinerant Yenish and Romani communities as a political technology, as well as the complex forms of resistance, negotiation, and infrapolitics that have emerged around these infrastructures. The project situates these developments within broader processes of urban transformation, spatial planning, and densification in Switzerland, while also critically reflecting on the historical and current nexus between social work and traveling communities.

    Áron Korózs is currently a Research Fellow for Social Space and Diversity at the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH). Teaching and mentoring constitute central components of his work in Bern. Throughout more than seven semesters of university teaching, his approach emphasizes reflexivity and the critical examination of historically embedded norms, processes of normalization, and political technologies within social work, urban planning and architecture.

    Prior to joining BFH, Áron Korózs worked in advocacy and counselling for Romani communities in Berlin, Germany. In this role, he supported individuals and professionals facing complex situations of discrimination and exclusion in areas such as social security, public administration, housing, and education. His work combined case-based approaches with policy-oriented advocacy, drawing on the everyday experiences and perspectives of affected communities to inform policy development and institutional change. Korózs has experience in policy-oriented research projects, politics and community development. Across these fields, he has focused on fostering dialogue between academia, civil society, public institutions, and marginalized communities.

    He holds a BA in Political Science and an MA in International Relations, having studied at the Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität, Sciences Po Paris, and Cornell University.
