Digital Leadership

In DAS Digital Leadership you will acquire techniques and competencies for contemporary, competent team leadership as well as drive the development and process of digital transformation in your company.

With this continuing education programme you will become a specialist in leadership issues, and deal with people and resources in digital transformation, thus expanding your skills. 

  • You are free to choose the order of the two CAS. 
  • You individually design the time horizon of your studies (1.5 to 5 years). 
  • You will deal with the design of new business models in digital transformation, look for competent solutions to current digital challenges, learn a wide range of methods for analysing, designing and controlling your digital strategy or deal with the holistic, systemic view of digital organisational development depending on your choice of CAS. 
  • You will further develop your personal leadership skills. 
  • You can extend this programme to an EMBA.

Content + Structure

With the DAS Digital Leadership, you have a choice of four CAS, which you combine with a CAS from the Leadership section. The degree course is concluded with a DAS diploma thesis on a topic from the CAS you chose. 

Have you already completed another CAS related to digitalisation? We would be happy to check the crediting to this DAS. 

1) Leadership experience, a current management position and at least ten days of training or further training in leadership to attend the CAS Leadership Advanced.

2) you choose one of the four listed CAS. 

Is your goal the EMBA Digital Business or EMBA Leadership and Management? The DAS Digital Leadership is allowable to the former mentioned programmes.

Training objective

Thanks to this further training, you can use digital transformation as an opportunity for your company. Depending on the CAS you choose, you will acquire skills in the following areas: 

  • You use the structural changes of digitisation to realign your organisation strategically, culturally and operationally. 
  • You will learn to manage and accompany demanding, complex transformation processes and projects. 
  • You are able to rethink the use of data across organisations and derive the necessary changes from this. 
  • You can systematically develop new digital business models and design the value-added processes of products and services. 
  • You identify relevant strategic issues in the field of digitalization, and develop, validate, and anchor digital transformation strategies relating to organisation, culture and personnel. 
  • You develop your own management style and behaviour. 
  • You will reflect on contemporary issues from your everyday management and project work with your class 
  • You expand your social and leadership skills. 
  • In the DAS Diploma Thesis, you will deal with a relevant topic from the digital field or your everyday management life and solve it using scientific methods. 

Decide which CAS you would like to begin your studies with. In order to be able to schedule this DAS programme well, it is best to contact the Director of Studies directly. The DAS Digital Leadership consists of two CAS and a DAS thesis. The CAS Leadership or the CAS Leadership Advanced is a mandatory CAS.

In this continuing education in digitalization, transformation and leadership you will benefit from practice-oriented and creative teaching and working methods.

The examination forms in the CAS are modern and suitable for adults. Traditional written knowledge examinations are not usually used.  

The proof of competence of the DAS Diploma Thesis module consists of the diploma thesis and an accompanying media report.

Lecturers

Our lecturers are proven experts with extensive practical and theoretical knowledge in their subject areas. They have at least a university degree plus many years of experience in higher education. 

Requirements + Admission

Do you want to transform your company into an attractive and sustainable organisation? Are you interested in new technologies and their application? We challenge and support you on your way in the digital transformation of digital business.

University degree

You will be admitted to the programme with a degree from a university, university of applied sciences, university of teacher education, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, or an equivalent foreign university and at least two years of professional experience.

Higher vocational training

If you have a qualification from a higher vocational education institution (Diploma Höhere Fachschule HF, Federal Diploma, Federal Certificate of Proficiency) and several years of professional experience, you will also be admitted to the programme. However, you will be required to attend our Introduction to Academic Study before starting the CAS. Completion of this module is a prerequisite for admission to the CAS.

Exceptions

In exceptional circumstances applicants may still  be admitted. The head of the degree programme will make a decision based upon your application and extenuating circumstances. Please contact us. If you are admitted, you will in any case attend the course «Introduction to Academic Writing» (in German) before the first CAS.

Specific admission requirements apply to the individual CAS.

Language skills

The language of instruction is always German. The compulsory literature is also in German. In some CAS a few texts are in English.

For all students of our CAS programmes we offer a half-day course Effective Learning. Attendance is recommended and is free of charge for CAS students. At this event, you will learn about the practice-oriented learning style used at universities of applied science.

Organisation + Registration

The duration of the DAS programme ranges from 1.5 to 5 years. Different teaching models are possible depending on the choice of the individual CAS.

You can register online via registration form. For registration we require following documents (in PDF format, max. 1 MB per document):

  • Curriculum Vitae 

  • Passport-sized photo (in JPG format) 

Please upload these documents even if you have already submitted them for another application. 

Admission to the programme is possible according to the starting dates of the individual CAS programmes. The registration deadline for the CAS programmes is 6 weeks before the start of the respective CAS.  

The number of participants in each CAS is limited. We therefore recommend early registration. Registration for the module DAS Diploma Thesis takes place directly with the study organisation.  

CHF 18,300 
 
The tuition fee includes the costs of the two CAS (CHF 8,500 each) and the costs of the module DAS Diploma Thesis (CHF 1,300). All compulsory literature, course materials and the costs of proof of competence are included in the tuition fee. 

The continuing education regulations of the Bern University of Applied Sciences and the implementation regulations for the continuing education regulations apply. The right to make changes is reserved. In case of doubt, the wording of the legal provisions and regulations shall prevail.
