The new preliminary work placement programme for future MSc students in agricultural science

12.11.2021 The six-month preliminary work placement programme has been redesigned to make it easier for students from other disciplines with insufficient practical experience to embark on the MSc in Life Sciences specialising in Agricultural Science. It launches in spring 2022 in combination with the blended learning course ‘Agriculture in Switzerland’.

Vorstudienpraktikum Master-Studium Agrarwissenschaften

The MSc in Life Sciences with specialisation in Agricultural Science comes alive by involving students from diverse backgrounds who contribute to the interdisciplinary nature of the programme and go on to enrich the agricultural sector with new and innovative perspectives. With the re-launched preliminary work placement programme we want to enable students from other disciplines who are passionate about agriculture but lack the necessary experience to acquire the basic knowledge that they need for the MSc.

A unique hands-on experience

People who dream of a career that combines practical experience with up-to-date scientific knowledge and enables them to develop sustainable solutions for agriculture are in just the right place here.

During their placement on a Swiss farm, students gain in-depth insight into the everyday reality of farming by working in and learning about all aspects of agriculture, from animal husbandry to arable farming. They also take an accompanying blended-learning course on ‘Agriculture in Switzerland’ which will help them understand the complexity of agriculture in its political, economic and societal contexts. This combination of practice and theory is the ideal preparation for their studies and professional life and equips them in the best possible way for success.
